What is FarmLoop?

FarmLoop is an automatic-printing kit. Install it on a standard Bambu Lab printer and the printer keeps running — finishing a part, releasing it from the build plate, clearing the plate, and starting the next print — without a human walking up between jobs. It turns a single desk printer into a farm node, and a row of printers into a farm.

The product is hardware + software:

  • A hardware kit you install on the printer (linear actuator, PCB, cooling fan, limit switch, cables).
  • The FarmLoop Pro app at app.3d-farmers.com that queues jobs and talks to the kit.

If you prefer an existing farm-management tool, the kit also works with SimplyPrint and similar platforms.

  1. Print finishes. The integrated limit switch detects print completion.
  2. Active cooling (optional). A 24V fan blows directly on the plate to speed cooldown and create the microgaps that break adhesion.
  3. Active plate bending. A precision linear actuator delivering 64 N of controlled force performs multiple bending cycles, mechanically breaking the bond between the part and the plate.
  4. Toolhead clearing routine. The printer’s own toolhead sweeps the part off the plate.
  5. Door opens (P/X series). The Stage 2 kit’s door-opener bracket opens the enclosure automatically to vent heat so the next print can start on a cool plate.
  6. Next job starts. The app pushes the next .gcode.3mf to the printer and the loop repeats.

The combination of active bending + active cooling is what lets FarmLoop handle large flat parts and high-adhesion materials that passive systems can’t release.

FarmLoop Stage 2, P/X series (P1P / P1S / P2S / X1C / X1E)

Section titled “FarmLoop Stage 2, P/X series (P1P / P1S / P2S / X1C / X1E)”

Order on 3d-farmers.comCHF 130 (sale), CHF 140 regular. Pre-order, ships May 2026. Bulk discounts at 5+ and 10+ units.

  • Custom FarmBoard control PCB
  • Two high-force linear actuators
  • 24V cooling fan (optional)
  • Limit switch for print-completion detection
  • Push button for door activation
  • AMS / Molex cables and screw set
  • Cable management clips and adhesive tapes
  • Automatic door-opener bracket with obstacle detection, force-sensing safety stops the arm instantly if something is in the way

Both kits include access to the printed hardware parts on @3DFarmers on MakerWorld — free STL downloads that you print on the target printer before installing the kit.

  • A supported Bambu Lab printer — see compatibility
  • A FarmLoop Pro subscription or compatible farm-management software like SimplyPrint
  • The printed hardware parts from MakerWorld, in PETG (see printed parts)
  • A recommended build plate

No soldering. The kit is fully plug-and-play into the FarmBoard, and most installs finish in under 30 minutes. See the assembly picker for the guide matching your exact printer.

Stage 1 was the original FarmLoop (2024). It relied on the printer’s own Z-bed flex and a toolhead push. It worked well for PLA and PETG on flat parts up to about 200 mm tall on the P/X series, and had some known limitations (manual door opening on enclosed printers, toolhead pop-off on very sticky parts, height limit on P/X).

Stage 2 (current) adds:

  • A dedicated linear-actuator bender independent of the printer’s Z-motion, so large flat parts and higher-adhesion filaments release reliably
  • Automatic door opener for enclosed printers (P/X series)
  • Reinforced toolhead attachment
  • No height limit on P/X series

Existing Stage 1 customers can upgrade. Email contact@3d-farmers.com for upgrade-kit pricing.

  • Print-on-demand businesses running PLA / PETG parts overnight and on weekends without staff
  • Small production farms (5-50 printers) that want software-driven queueing and hands-off detachment
  • Hobbyists with one or two printers who want to batch-run without babysitting
  • Anyone whose bottleneck is “the plate is full and nobody is home”
  • Not a new printer. You bring a Bambu Lab A1 Mini / A1 / P1P / P1S / P2S / X1C / X1E.
  • Not a resin printer solution. FDM only.
  • Not for TPU / flexibles. The release mechanics assume rigid materials.
  • Not supported on non-Bambu printers today — see compatibility for the third-party roadmap (Flashforge AD5X, Snapmaker U1, Elegoo Centauri Carbon, Prusa Core One).
